Woven basket from Burkina Faso in West Africa.
It has no African feel at all, and for some reason has a Japanese feel to it.
Perhaps it is because the open weave made from aquatic plants evokes Japanese baskets.
Apparently, these baskets are used locally to process Sumbala beans (a fermented food).
This is a lovely basket with a simple shape.
Aquatic plants are soft, water-repellent, elastic, light, and durable.
The scent, texture, and color are well balanced, and the texture develops with use, making it a perfect item for everyday use.
Use it as a storage basket or a pot cover.

*Note: The shape can be adjusted by slightly moistening the product with a spray bottle or similar.
